English Language School Exams

Exemption Exam

  • All incoming students are required to take the English Language Exemption Exam unless they already meet the university's language proficiency criteria through recognized certifications.
  • The passing grade for the exemption exam is 60.
  • Students who score 60 or above are exempt from attending the university's language school.
  • Students who score below 60 are automatically enrolled in the university's English Language School.

Placement Exam

  • Students who enter the Language School after the exemption exam must take a Placement Exam.
  • This test determines each student's current level of English proficiency and places them in the appropriate course level.
  • The Placement Exam is mandatory for all students entering the Language School.
  • Based on results, students are assigned to proficiency levels tailored to their needs.

These exams ensure all students begin their academic journey with the language support they need to succeed.

In-Session Assessment Structure

Throughout the semester, students are evaluated through exams, coursework, and reading activities to measure progress and ensure academic standards are met.

Mid-Session & Final Exams

  • Mid-Session Exam – accounts for 30% of the final grade
  • Final Exam – accounts for 40% of the final grade
  • Minimum overall grade of 60 required to pass

Quizzes

  • Two quizzes are assigned before the Mid-Session Exam
  • Two quizzes are assigned before the Final Exam
  • Each contributes 5% of final grade (total 20%)

Project & Homework

  • Contributes 10% of the final grade
  • Includes written assignments, presentations, and classroom activities
